Coach Chris Ruff (Del Norte High) & Coach Michael Adkins (Olympian High) join me to discuss High Track and Field issues and Coach Adkins' proposal to increase the number of divisions in the California State Track Meet. California has the largest high school student population and more schools than any other state in the country. Despite being the #1 sport for participation in California, Track & Field has only 1 competitive division at the state level. Football has 13 divisions, Basketball has 7 divisions, Cross Country has 5 divisions. Texas, the only state with more track and field participants than California has 13 divisions in its state track meet. Texas also seperates its public, private & christian schools and holds its state meet in two different locations.
